Weather Spotters get ready!\u00a0 SKYWARN Recognition Day 2018 officially takes place Saturday, December 1, from 0000-2400 UTC. During this 24 hour period, spotters make contact with SKYWARN radio operators at NWS offices across the nation. This annual event was originally developed in 1999 by the National Weather Service and the American Radio Relay League to celebrate the contributions that SKYWARN radio\u00a0operators\/spotters make to the National Weather Service. It also allows NWS offices to test their back up forms of communications.<\/p>\n
