SKYWARN SPOTTER CRITERION CHANGE
Per the direction of the Raleigh National Weather Service, Central Carolina SKYWARN will no longer take reports of “1 inch or more of rainfall in an hour’s time or less.” The NWS has determined that this amount of rainfall does not necessarily result in flooding and therefore should not remain a criterion to report. We will continue to take reports of “flooding and flash flooding where none normally occurs.” This change was effective September 4, 2014.
